I’m 61. A bit wrinkled. I need reading glasses to see the computer.
I HAVE NEVER FELT YOUNGER.
OR MORE ESSENTIAL.
OR MORE SATISFIED.
Why?
Is my life always perfect? No! Of course not.
Some days I wake up riddled with anxiety. Other days start off well, but then I’m set off by another computer issue that disrupts my schedule. Some days I’m tired and all I want is to curl up in front of Netflix for the afternoon.
I’m a human.
But what I know for sure is that I’m much happier human than I was six years ago when I still worked full time as an international tax lawyer.
I’d always assumed my success would be enough to make me content. It wasn’t. I used to wake up almost every day feeling stressed, empty and depleted.
My decision in 2014 to leave my legal career to become an artist was the best choice I’ve ever made.
My decision three years later to train as a life coach was a close runner up.
My life still has its ups and downs, but there is one enormous difference that changes everything.
Today, I’m doing something I’m passionate about. I’m fueled with energy and purpose. I love my art and I love my clients.
I no longer dread another work week. I no longer question why on earth I’m doing what I’m doing. I wake up knowing exactly why.
When I start my week and look over my agenda, I feel excited about what I see: a local art show where I’ll show my paintings. Creative writing time for my newsletter. Several sessions on Zoom to help my clients change their lives.
This is my version of bliss.
What would your perfect day look like?
What would you accomplish? How would you engage your curiosity? How would you express yourself? What new things would you learn? How would you stretch and grow your capabilities? How would you feel?
If you wait to do what you really want to do until “I retire” or “I’ve saved up enough” or “my kids move out”, you’ll have missed an important piece of your life.
You have a choice.
You can decide to do what you really want and take your first small step today. No giant leaps like the one I made are required. Transforming your life can happen in a slow, very doable way.
If the change you’re seeking feels impossible and you’re convinced there are too many roadblocks in your way, I can help. My job as a coach is to give you a new perspective about whatever situation you’re in. My job is to see possibilities you don’t.
