Every time I walk by this tall platform that’s high above the telephone poles, the mother Osprey leaves her nest. She chirps loudly as she desperately tries to attract my attention. She circles and chirps as she tries to lead me away from her nest. She doesn’t settle until I’m a long distance away.

I love her fiercely protective energy. I think all of us who are mothers know exactly what that feels like.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers, and to all children of mothers. You are loved.

I've found these thoughts about sharing my art to be so useful, I wanted to post them here as a gift to all my artist friends.

Art is a vulnerable profession. We create from the soul level and put our work on display. There's a satisfaction and connection and beauty in sharing it. And there is also self judgment and doubt and a desire for the outcomes we've decided we need to validate us as artists.

I know I've often fallen into the trap of judging my own performance harshly. (In art, yes, and in all things!) But that comes from me focussing on external, arbitrary measurements I've made up in my head about what's "good enough", and what isn't. I bet non-artists can relate to this too!

These thoughts, which resulted from a brainstorming session with my beautiful peer coaches @sarah.hurrle and @rosecorrick (check them out!) have been extremely useful in helping me shift away from the external things I can't control and towards what matters most at the end of the day: being true to my life force and sharing my art.

Expect to see more of it!
